Lyrics
Intro
A single, ultra-funky, bluesy bassline from the Kawaii Bulldog starts the track, fat and gritty. After two bars, the junkyard drum kit enters with a groovy, lopsided dembow-funk beat.
Verse 1
Diógenes, lead vocals, street-prophet style
The dust settles down, the victory feast is cold
A story bought and paid for, a promise made of fool's gold
We drank the ale of chaos, we sang for the Limper's name
Made a deal with a shadow to get back in the game...
Now the silence is heavy, and the morning feels so grey
And a snake in a silk suit is comin' 'round to play.
Chorus
Massive explosion of sound. The dwarven choir enters with full force, sounding like a pub full of rowdy but loyal friends, stomping their feet.
Diógens
The Trickster's tab is open!
Dwarf Choir, shouting with passion
HEY! HEY! OPEN WIDE!
Diógenes
His smile is made of poison!
Dwarf Choir
BUT A DWARF HAS GOT HIS PRIDE!
All together, a powerful, unified chant
So pour another round for the debt we have to pay!
We knew the cost of freedom at the breaking of the day!
Verse 2
Diógenes
He don't want no silver, he don't want no crown
He wants to hear our heartbeat, the most authentic sound
He wants the Golem's rhythm, he wants the Prophet's truth
And twist it into jingles for the corporate, smiling youth...
He wants to sell our anger, and bottle up our soul
And make our revolution just another rock and roll.
Chorus
Even more defiant and powerful. Voices are rougher.
Diógenes
The Trickster's tab is open!
Dwarf Choir, shouting
HEY! HEY! OPEN WIDE!
Diógenes
His smile is made of poison!
Dwarf Choir
BUT A DWARF HAS GOT HIS PRIDE!
All together, a powerful, unified chant
So pour another round for the debt we have to pay!
We knew the cost of freedom at the breaking of the day!
Bridge
The music strips down to a minimalist groove. Hann's clean, melancholic guitar melody takes the lead over the bass and sparse junkyard beat.
Diógenes, a quiet, gravelly whisper
The Rengo runs free now, the Chaos has its dance...
But we are tied to a puppet string, by a single, sideways glance.
Saluton, mia amiko... was this the only chance?
Hann, clean backing vocal, like an echo
...the only chance...
Rap / Sermon
The beat becomes a hypnotic, lo-fi hip-hop groove. Diógenes's voice is intense, close to the mic, preaching.
Listen! They sell you freedom but the receipt is written in your blood!
They give you a ladder but it's sinking in the mud!
They promise you the future but they steal your yesterday!
So you stand with your brothers, look the devil in the face and say...
"The tab is on the table... what's the damage for today?"
Outro
The song explodes into a celebratory, defiant finale. The Dwarf Choir chants the chorus lyrics like a wild pub singalong, with ad-libs, laughter, and shouts.
Dwarf Choir, ad-libbing
PAY THE MAN! PAY THE MAN!
DRINK THE ALE! AND STAND!
FOR THE CLAN! FOR THE LAND!
¡HEY!
The song cuts off abruptly with the loud, clear sound of dozens of heavy beer mugs clinking together in a toast, followed by a collective, hearty laugh.
