"Her Shadow Still Lives Here"

I discovered her shadow still lives here, though she left six months ago.
It appears on the balcony at six every evening, staring at the city skyline in silence. When I open the fridge, it flickers near the door, as if still deciding what to have for dinner. Even when I fix my tie in the mirror, it waits by the bathroom door—waiting for a morning it no longer belongs to.
"How much longer are you staying?" I finally ask.
The shadow doesn’t answer.
At night, it drifts through the living room, searching for the right corner to settle in. Eventually, it sits down, clutching the old blanket she left behind.
I decide not to disturb it.
Sometimes, loneliness is just a shadow that refuses to leave.

The sink overflows with words unsaid,
Our plants whisper secrets we don’t know.

We orbit, never collide,
Celestial bodies in a rented sky.
You hum a tune I used to love,
But now it sounds like static, like distance.

The fridge holds expired apologies,
The carpet remembers footsteps before they fade.
Did we mean to build a home,
Or just a waiting room for the inevitable?

Let’s pretend the bed is still warm,
Let’s pretend time doesn’t fold in on itself.
Let’s pretend we still know each other,
Before the stars rearrange us completely.

A hand reaches—too slow,
A name spoken—too soft.
An apartment for two,
A universe apart.
